Golden Airways Flight 698 was a scheduled domestic passenger flight from San Jose International Airport in San Jose, California to Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel. On December 8, 2013, the Boeing 737 MAX 7 was shot down by a Syrian fighter jet and crashed near Tadmur. All 36 passengers on board were killed. The jet pilot, Zubair al-Sultana, committed suicide before he was confronted about the incident.

The Golden Airways Flight 698 was Boeing 737 MAX 7 (registration N477LY). The aircraft was built and had its first flight in 1999. The crew consisted of pilot Jeffrey Pindleton, First Officer Hayyim Kadish, and flight attendants Dani Guetralla, Amanda Michaels, Lindsay Atterton, Mindy Thomas, and Rachael Reynolds.

Some of the passengers were Israeli natives traveling home for Rosh Hashanah, some were non-revue employees for Golden Airways, and some were catholic nuns traveling for humanitarian work. One of them was famed Pakistani model and actress Noushin Gujjar.
